In the Upanisads, the world began when the original great one shouted, “It is I!”. The Christian Bible reads, “In the beginning was the Word.”  We speak the world into existence, shape it with sound and story that support us in acting in accordance with our ideals. Gemini asks, “Have you voiced your Self, your own precious presence? Are you joining the chorus of souls brave enough to speak that most intimate and magical language?” 

Personally, the answer is “Mostly!” There are pieces of myself I wish I could polish before I share them (hello Libra rising!). Let me package this neat and lovely before unveiling it to my other selves, my fellow humans.  But this new moon is begging me to just say it because ultimately sharing is how we grow and evolve as a collective. Sharing my Self is a radical act of love- I love myself to see me clearly and I love you to know me well. This is a seed of revolution in a culture that prizes perfection and competition and conformity.

Gemini, ruled by Mercury, is primarily concerned with intellect, communication, and language.  Mercury is currently traversing through Gemini, operating at full capacity and bolstering our verbal expression for the next few weeks. I often think of these twins as archaeologists, curious minds excavating and talking and turning over and asking questions and looking for every possible perspective. In the context of a new moon, this excavation is internal.

Tell your sister or friend or lover or librarian or pet or journal or self in the mirror.  Articulate this spark in words if you can, or another specific sensation that supports focus and discernment. The Moon and Sun are joined by Venus, planet of love justice beauty and sensation. Maybe you are experiencing a song or an art piece or a food that’s got you tapped into the wonder of the universe. 

The expansive planet Jupiter is in Gemini for the next year, asking us to be generous with our information, our words, our interests because these are often our greatest strengths. While we tend to think of information as input, we each carry a wealth of knowledge we deem important.  There will be opportunities to share this with people who are interested and value our output. This time also signals a need for discernment with the information coming in. Our focus is on generosity and information flowing out- sometimes you need to recognize the ratio and adjust.
